Linking your Aadhaar card to your PAN (Permanent Account Number) is a simple process that can be done online. Here are the steps to link your Aadhaar card to PAN:

  1. Visit the Income Tax e-filing website at https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/

  2. Click on the "Link Aadhaar" option available under the "Quick Links" section on the left-hand side of the home page.

  3. Enter your PAN, Aadhaar number, and name as per Aadhaar in the respective fields.

  4. If your Aadhaar has only your year of birth mentioned, then tick the box indicating the same.

  5. Enter the Captcha code for verification purposes.

  6. Click on the "Link Aadhaar" button to submit the details.

  7. A message will appear on the screen confirming the successful linking of your Aadhaar card to your PAN.

Alternatively, you can also link your Aadhaar card to your PAN by sending an SMS to 567678 or 56161 in the following format: UIDPAN<SPACE><12-digit Aadhaar number><SPACE><10-digit PAN number>.

It is important to note that as per the recent Supreme Court ruling, it is not mandatory to link your Aadhaar card to PAN for filing income tax returns. However, it is still recommended to do so to avoid any future complications or delays in processing your tax returns.
